# External Warehouses

## What is an External Warehouse?

An External Warehouse in Moselle represents a third-party logistics (3PL) provider or an integrated inventory source that is not Shopify or Amazon FBA. Moselle connects directly to these services to pull inventory levels automatically.

**Supported Integrations include:**

* **WMS/3PLs:** ShipBob, ShipStation, Extensiv (3PL Central), SkuVault, Fulfil
* **ERPs:** Cin7 Omni, NetSuite, Quickbooks (Online & Desktop)
* **Marketplaces:** Walmart Fulfillment Services

## Setting Up an External Warehouse

Unlike manual warehouses, you cannot simply "create" a fully integrated external warehouse from the UI alone. It requires establishing an API connection.

**To set up a new External Warehouse:**

1. **Connect the Integration:** Go to **Settings > Integrations** and connect your provider.
2. **Map Locations:** Once connected, Moselle will import locations found in the external system.
3. **Contact Support:** If your warehouse does not appear automatically or if you need to connect a provider not listed in the self-service integrations, please **Contact Moselle Support**. We often need to configure specific location IDs or enable webhooks on the backend to ensure data flows correctly.

## Sync Behavior

* **Read-Only:** Inventory levels in external warehouses are **read-only** within Moselle. You cannot manually edit the stock quantities because they would be overwritten by the next sync.
* **Frequency:** Most external integrations sync **daily**.
* **Permissions:** Ensure the API user or token provided to Moselle has `Read Inventory` permissions in your 3PL system.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://learn.moselle.io/operations/inventory/external-warehouses.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
