Build a Production Plan

The production plan is the next step toward automating your inventory planning and management, now that you have a forecast.

The goal of the replenishment plan is to identify all the SKUs across all your channels and warehouses that are at risk of running out of stock. We go a step further by not only identifying items that are out of stock but also by automatically generating recommended purchases and purchase orders for you with just a few clicks.

Let's start by generating the plan first.

Create a Production Plan

Click on the Production option from the left side menu. Select "Create Production Plan" and choose the Replenishment Plan option.

A pop up will appear for you to enter the production plan parameters. Select the forecast you have created, the coverage period, and a name for the production plan. Choose a coverage period, and click the "Save" button.

Once you complete your production plan, you can enter parameters such as the type of SKUs you want to replenish, the option to include all products, transit lead time, and safety stock options.

Reading your Production Plan

Once the plan is built, you will have several assets to review and several actions you can take to start sending out your orders.

At-Risk Items to Replenish

The table on the page displays a list of items that need replenishing, based on your start date and end date (runway date). This quantity accounts for minimum order quantities, preferred safety stock, and lead times, all of which can be adjusted.

The table can be filtered by product line, product type, and SKU name, but can also be exported as a CSV to review the entire plan, including a breakout of purchases per month.

Exports can be downloaded by clicking "Export" on the Production Plan Table, which provides you with two export options.

Production Plan by Month Export

This report provides insights into how our AI has determined your production planning for the specified period, from the start date to the end date (runway date).

The output presents rows of SKUs and recommended purchases by month, taking into account minimum order quantities (MOQs), lead times, and safety stock levels. Our AI attempts to predict your preferred safety stock levels, MOQs, and lead times based on past history, but you can override these by manually adjusting the settings.

This powerful view will assist you in understanding how Moselle will construct your purchase orders in the next step of this tutorial.

Ending Inventory By Month Export

For capacity and cash planning, it is helpful for you to understand how much inventory we will have on hand for any given month in the future based on the orders Moselle is proposing.

This export provides that information, ensuring you have peace of mind that the AI is not purchasing excess inventory.
